Baseline Test
Baseline Test
A Concussion Pre-Season Baseline Test measures healthy brain function for an individual and provides an accurate reference point in the event of a concussion.
Baseline testing examines
memory
balance
eye reflexes
neck joint and muscles
By comparing pre-season and post-concussion results, any lingering problems or deficits can be identified, allowing for safer and more informed return-to-sport decisions.
A Baseline Test takes 20 minutes and is rebateable through private health funds (Average out of pocket cost $5-$15). Think of it as the equivalent of getting a new mouthguard each season – a simple step for safety
CAN I STILL HAVE TREATMENT WITHOUT A BASELINE TEST?
Yes. while having baseline data provides the most accurate reference, physiotherapy treatment can still proceed. Without personal baseline, assessment results are compared to population averages. However individual variation makes a personal baseline the safest and most precise reference for concussion recovery.
Concussion assessment and treatment is the most successful with the collaboration of Physiotherapy and GP’s.
At Active Solutions Physiotherapy we perform Baseline Concussion Tests, Concussion Evaluation and Treatment.
All of our assessments include the use of NeuroFlex concussion goggles, for the most accurate, completely objective and best use of technology to assess the Vestibular Ocular Motor Reflexes (VOMS).
