Persistent Concussion
Persistent Concussion
Persistent concussion, or post concussion syndrome, is when signs and symptoms are still present after 4 weeks.
As the effects of concussion are still present, the player will not have satisfied the requirements to return to play. Depending on what the persisting problems are – headaches, dizziness, ocular motor function, light sensitivity etc they will still be performing a rehabilitation program.
Often the reason for developing persistent concussion to from doing too much too soon following the initial concussion. This is why it is so important to have an initial concussion evaluation on Day 2 with a concussion physio. This way the severity of the concussion can be accurately evaluated and the correct advice given at the start of the recovery.
At Active Solutions Physiotherapy we perform Baseline Concussion Tests, Concussion Evaluation and Treatment.
